The flower garden grows.

February 15th

Just had a try at needle felting, my first time ever. It was fun, though you do need some patience!
I bought a kit for a felted flower brooch at the craft shop in the Ridings, Wakefield as I thought it would make me have a go! The kit is from Riddlescraft and very easy to use. Now I have made one brooch I can see a flower patch growing from my mohar scraps.

February 14th

Just finished some daffodil flower brooches for the craft stall. The pattern is in this month's Craftseller magazine and was designed by Liz Ward. I hope they prove popular this spring but in any case they will add variety to the flower display.

It has been a slow week for crafting but I have started a pair of knitted fingerless mittens and have also crocheted some motifs for the pink baby blanket.

February 12th

Finished the socks that Gill asked me to knit for her brother in law. They are knitted in Schachenmayr Regia Adventure color which is a lovely yarn to knit with, it is 75% wool and a lttle thicker than other sock yarns that I have used.

February 4th

A couple of photos to show items that I finished today.
1st is a pair of gloves for a lady with extra long fingers.
2nd is the finished piece of Casal guidi which I started at the embroidery guild. I am quite pleased with the finished piece but do not think it is something I will be doing too often as it is very hard on the eyes.

At last I have finished my jelly roll quilt. I -started it on 2nd November 2013 at a workshop run by The Crafty Old Birds it was their pattern but I have adapted it to fit my king size bed. Many thanks to Mary and Rosemary (crafty old birds) for their support and to my friend Gill for her help in adapting the design.

During this last week or so I have also knitted some fingerless mittens for both adults and children and begun a crochet blanket in pink using the same African flower design as i  used for the green commission. 

Included in this posting is a photo of the knitted, felted bag that i made a couple of weeks ago as it has attracted some interest on pinterest

I have altered the fastenings on Julie's jacket by making the frogs false and adding press studs hope this works for her.

So what is next
Well I have a piece of casal guidi embroidery to finish, more work to do on my tree of life design and another quilt to design. 
I must also design and make some brooches for my stall.

January 2014

Where has the last year gone? I began to write a blog in 2013 but after 3 entries seemed to give up so here I am starting again. This will only be a crafty blog and will not be a regular daily or even weekly event so it will just be a matter of watch this space.

I will begin by listing some of the crafty makes of the year so far:
Finished a baby blanket made from african flower motifs in a varigated green yarn and white yarn - a commission.
A baby's tank top with a cable up the front  I beige - another commission.
8 head bands to use up the many oddments of Pampas left over from the neckwarmers knitted before Christmas - for Lynne to sell.
2 pairs of fingerless mittens with matching headbands, using up Galaxy yarn - for Lynne to sell.
4 pairs of epaulettes for Simon to wear on his parmedic unifoms.
A knitted felted bag using one of my own kits - for my own stall
Finished bright coloured crochet flower blanket, the paatern was n a copy of Mollie Makes- will keep this for myself.
Made a pair of armcovers for Mike's sofa where the kittens have ragged the fabric
Experimented with my new melt pot - rather unsuccessfully
I have finished the patchwork part of a jelly roll quilt but still have the mammoth ask of the quilting to do!
At the embroidety guild we had a workshop on designing without a pencil and I then continued to develop this in a workbook and started a Zentangle design which I intend to work on fabric.

All in all not a bad start to the new year.   

So what is on the plans for this next week? Well I need to-
continue with my Zentangle tree of life.
Stitch my quilt
Alter the fasteings on julie's jacket - this may involve making my own frog fastenings
A baby jumper in cream - commission
Finish the grey and white fingerless mittens- started last week
Experiment with making crochet necklaces and brooches from left over ladder yarn.
